To "greenwash" or "greenscam" is to hijack green principles and symbols to benefit the public image of polluting corporations, agencies and lobbyists.
Green scams are usually conducted either by using a third party environmental organization, or using images that promote environmental stewardship, while at the same time engaging in practices that actually are harmful to the environment.
Greenwashing is also a technique used to prevent tough environmental regulations from being adopted or implemented.

REAP encourages all of its members to stay informed about renewable energy scams by utilities and organization around the country. REAP will monitor what is coming out of the mouths and pockets of Big Utilities, elected officials and so called “green advocates” and report the findings so YOU will be able to decipher the dirty truth in their lies
"Clean Coal" is the same as saying "Healthy Smoking".

Ecomagination
General Electric invests $128 million into dirty energy power plants in China.
Despite GE energy’s recent efforts to green their image with their “Ecomagination” public relations campaign, they have invested $128 million into two power plants, one of them is a gas turbine combined-cycle power plant (coal generated) in the Zhejian Province of China. The plant, which is the largest gas turbine combined-cycle plant in the Zhejian Province, has an electricity output of 795.6 megawatts.

Duke Energy
Duke Energy bask President Obama’s push to cap carbon trade.
In their ongoing push to convince the general public that they know what’s best for the environment, Duke Energy Corp. backs President Obama’s push for a “market-based cap” on greenhouse gas emissions. In contrast to their claims, the Utility has repeatedly violated the Clean Air Act at its coal-fired plants in the Carolinas. Its failure to retrofit its coal plants with up-to-date emissions-control technology caused the U.S. government to file a lawsuit against the energy corporation in 2000.
Duke Energy’s Save-a-Watt program doesn’t save the environment.
Duke Energy attempted to implement a green scam called the “Save-a-Watt” program, aimed at increased energy efficiency among rate payers in North Carolina. The South Carolina Public Service Commission rejected the program on February 26, 2009, claiming that Duke Energy would have made windfall profits off the backs of ratepayers. Duke Energy’s proposed compensation scheme would have billed customers far beyond the costs of the program. Also to the detriment of the program, was Duke Energy’s own internal study which revealed that their “Save-a-Watt” program would have only yielded energy savings of 1% as opposed to other top-performing efficiency programs that save 17%. A much more fitting title for their “Save-a-Watt” program would be Save-a-Watt, Buy a Coal Plant, given the fact that Duke Energy continues to either build or ask to build new coal-fired power plants, the most recent power plant being the Cliffside coal plant.
According to the Department of Energy, the “Integrated Gasification Combined-Cycle (IGCC)” technology used to power to the turbines is far from clean and renewable. In fact, it requires COAL to even produce the fuel that is eventually used to power the turbine
You see the ads on television. You read the articles in your local newspaper, and you even hear your friends talk about the ‘benefits’ of ‘clean coal’. It is time to stop these dishonest lies. There is nothing clean about coal! Let us spread the truth about clean coal technology so everyone will be able to tell fact from fiction. You can be part of the TRUTH SQUAD!
Don't be fooled by Big Coal's propaganda campaign to build 154 gigawatts (154,000 megawatts) of new coal plants in the US.
These new plants would be the equivalent of building 75 Four Corners Coal Plants (partly owned by Southern California Edison), or 70 Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plants (operated by PG&E). The Four Corners Coal Plant is one of the largest and most harmful coal plants in the U.S.
America’s Power.org has hijacked President Obama’s energy related message of hope: “Together, we can do this. Together, we will do this” for its Clean Coal campaign. Together we CANNOT do this. Don’t’ let President Obama’s message of hope for renewable energy be taken out of context. Together WE CAN stop the myth of clean coal.
Let the people at America’s Power know they are wrong on this. We can power America through safer, cleaner, and cheaper sources. We don't need dirty coal.
